The basics
What is a fractional developer?
A fractional developer is a senior software engineer who works with your company part-time on an ongoing basis — a fraction of a full-time hire, embedded in your team. You get lead-level engineering for the time you actually need.
How is this different from a freelancer or an agency?
A freelancer is usually hired for a fixed, one-off project; an agency layers on account managers and markup. A fractional developer stays embedded week to week, learns your product deeply, and owns outcomes like a part-time team member.
Working together
How do we get started?
We begin with a short discovery call to scope your needs. I embed in your tools and codebase and start shipping within days. If you start a new project, I can help with architecture and planning before a single line of code is written.
What timezone and hours do you work?
I mostly work on New York time. I work remotely and overlap with your core hours for syncs and reviews, with the rest delivered async. Cadence is agreed up front and adjusted as needed.
What stacks and tools do you use?
TypeScript, React, Node, Turborepo, Python, various databases, Claude, Gemini, and modern cloud infrastructure - and I plug into your existing stack, repo, and project tools rather than imposing new ones.
Can you bring a team if we need to scale?
Yes. I can stay solo, or spin up a small fractional engineering team around a project when the roadmap calls for more hands.
Pricing & logistics
How much does a fractional developer cost?
Rates are a flat monthly retainer - typically a fraction of the loaded cost of a full-time senior hire, with no recruiting fees, benefits, or long-term contract.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes - just message me, and we’ll record the cancellation date.
Is there a minimum commitment?
Engagements are month-to-month with a light minimum so we can build momentum. No annual lock-in.
How does billing work?
A simple monthly invoice for your retainer, paid up front. Hiring a team is discussed separately.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, at any time.
